SUMMARY:Healthcare Immigration Strategies: Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Healthcare Immigration Strategies:  New Mexico Health Resources is pleased to announce a new webinar series aimed at supporting New Mexico healthcare institutions’ ongoing efforts to recruit and retain healthcare providers through the immigration of talented foreign national candidates.  \nIn this era of severe shortages and major challenges in recruiting physicians\, dentists\, and allied healthcare providers\, employers need to update constantly their recruitment toolbox\, particularly when recruiting for difficult-to-fill placements.  One of the major sources of healthcare providers is foreign nationals.  Employers can be resistant to grappling with the uncertainties and complexities of the U.S. immigration system.  However\, our immigration laws are recognizing the high benefits that international healthcare providers bring to U.S. patients\, and there are even immigration legal provisions that\, when properly understood and invoked\, give employers a competitive advantage in both recruiting and retaining foreign healthcare workers.  In a sense\, immigration is getting a facelift under the Biden Administration\, and many employers within the state will benefit from getting either a refresher or a crash course in how immigration can best support your recruitment program. \nThis two-part webinar series will cover immigration options and strategies for healthcare organizations and their team members as a means of recruitment and long-term retention of talented candidates. The first webinar will cover the life cycle of an International Medical Graduate physician’s immigration process\, from education and waivers (Conrad\, HHS\, etc.) to employment status and permanent residence (PNIW\, PERM\, etc.).  The second webinar will detail the process for dentists and allied healthcare professionals from nonimmigrant employment authorization through permanent residence. SUMMARY:Cannabis\, PTSD and its impact in the Dental Office
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this presentation is to provide the dental professional with knowledge to appreciate and understand the current medical landscape in dental office and that is common in New Mexico. \nFurthermore\, to provide foundational concepts to increase the participants scope of in-office management of new trends in patient cannabis use and its impact in the dental office. \nCourse objectives: \n\nTo give the dental professional a better understanding of PTSD\nTo provide historical background on cannabis\, FDA scheduling\, and current philosophies in patient treatment\nTo provide the dental professional with the pharmacokinetics of both cannabis and common sedatives used in the dental office\n\nThe presentation will be given by Jason R. Flores\, DDS\, MHA\, BSN-RN\, DADBA\, DNDBA\, FADSA. \nDr. Flores graduated from Lamar Univ. in Beaumont\, TX\, with a B.S. in Biology (2001) and a B.S. in Nursing (2004). He worked as an RN in the ER\, CV-ICU\, behavioral health\, neuro-trauma\, and rehab departments in Beaumont and Houston\, while concurrently attending dental school at the UT Dental Branch-Houston. He earned the Anesthesiology Safety Practice Award and the Horace Wells Award for Anesthesiology. He attended the Univ. of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine\, where he completed his specialty training in Dental Anesthesiology. During his chief residency year\, Dr. Flores founded the first ever pre-doctoral dental anesthesia society\, DACS\, Dentist Anesthesiologist Club for Students. He is dual board certified in Dental Anesthesiology and was awarded Diplomate status with the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and Fellow status with the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Flores completed his Masters of Healthcare Administration and currently serves as Division Chief of Dental Medicine\, Clinic Director and Director of Anesthesiology for UNMMG Ambulatory Surgical Center\, Assoc.
