Inpatient management of opiate use disorder: Focus on Buprenorphine

Objectives:

  • Recognize the benefits of initiating inpatient treatment for opiate use disorder (OUD)
  • Understand pharmacology, formulations and how to use Buprenorphine in the inpatient setting for OUD
  • Understand methods to manage acute pain in patients who are on Buprenorphine

Presenter: Dr. Swathi Subramany

Dr. Swathi Subramany completed her medical schooling in India after which she moved to the US to complete her internal medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (Little Rock, AR). Following residency, she served as a hospitalist for 2.5 years at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA and joined the University of New Mexico in December 2020 as Assistant Professor in the division of Hospital Medicine. Her special interests include care of patients with substance use disorder and Point-of-care Ultrasound use in Hospital Medicine.
